The US Cultural & Heritage Marketing Council joined forces with Visit Sacramento and the City of Sacramento's Office of Arts and Culture as they presented The Cultural Tourism Symposium at the SAFE Credit Union Convention Center on Wednesday, July 26, 2023. Richard Peterson, President & CEO of USCHMC, co-created this program to showcase the importance of Cultural Tourism for Sacramento and their greater creative community

"It was an honor to share the stage with many of Sacramento's dedicated community supporters, business leaders and place makers – creating pathways for cultural tourism throughout the region", states Richard Peterson, President of USCHMC.

"And an extra special thank you to all of the contributing speakers, panelists and the attendees themselves - for facilitating the critical discussions and providing the space for new ideas, varied viewpoints and information sharing." concludes Peterson.

Further, cultural tourism is an important aspect of promoting local culture, heritage, and traditions while also driving economic growth and fostering understanding among communities. Sacramento’s approach in leading this inaugural symposium is just one ingredient in promoting cultural exchange, discussing best practices in tourism, and exploring ways to preserve, celebrate and develop the unique cultural assets of the Sacramento region.
